Kosair

Mission:  To show the loving kindness of God to the parents of children in the Kosair Children's Hospital by meeting their practical needs.

Biblical Guide:  Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God's grace in its various forms.  (I Peter 4:10)

This ministry is a wonderful way to show Jesus' love and compassion to the hurting, weary and fearful parents of the children at Kosair Hospital.  These children are well cared for, as it should be, but we saw the need to minister to the parents or caretakers as well.  Often these families have come unexpectedly and from a long distance with ntohering but their sick child. 

One Friday each month a small team of us goes from room to room with a cart and a wagon full of everyday necessities.  We offer everything from a snack to shampoo, socks to puzzle books and Bibles...and much much more!  The parent is given a bag and told to take whatever they need.  Many times we have difficulty convincing the parent that - "YES, this is really for you!"  Cost? "Oh no, none at all.  It's free, just like Jesus' love."  We have gotten the opportunity to pray with some of the families hand in hand, but pray for each family silently even when not specifically asked.  Each time we go we serve so many families, but always know that there was a least one family that we were specifically there to serve.  How wonderful to know that we were able to help in some small way.  We had hoped to be a blessing to these parents; but have ended up being abundantly blessed ourselves.
